Who We are
Uzinduzi is a digital platform meant to help artists launch their artwork and get financial support from their fans and supporters. It’s a great way for artists to connect with their audience and get the support they need to continue creating.
What We Do
We make Album launches profitable for the artists whilst the fans also get a physical experience of their favourite artist’s work through a physical plaque delivered to them in their name. Fans compete with each other to financially support their artist’s album launch by participating in a bidding war where everyone’s a winner. At the end of the bidding, fans are grouped by their contributions resulting in each category getting a plaque shipped to them respective of their bid amount. The plaques rank copper, silver, gold and platinum. All proceeds will go towards the artist after plaque manufacturing expenses.
How We Do It
Firstly, artists create accounts with Uzinduzi and set up their bio information on their profiles. When they have an upcoming album launch, they create the virtual launch event through their account and invite their fans through their social media accounts as well as ours.
Fans interested in supporting the artist can attend the launch by clicking the launch link and sign up using their email. Upon login in, they are welcomed by the details of the album, the songs on the album, features, the album art and the plaque design for that album.
After going through the details of the album by the artist, the prompt to place a bid appears allowing the fan to support their artist in local currency or foreign currency using multiple payment options available. A bid amount slider is also present, showing the category of plaque and its respective minimum amount.
When the bid has been placed, the corresponding plaque category is automatically awarded and contact details of the fan are required for shipping of the plaque and customisation of the name tag on the plaque. Shipping of plaques commences 2 weeks after the launch event expires.
The proceeds are forwarded to the respective artist after deduction of plaque manufacturing expenses and the statistics of the financial performance of the album launch are compiled. The information is shared on social media, newspapers, radio stations and television networks for transparency.
The album receives an overall rating based on the total funds raised from the virtual launch event and the artist receives a corresponding plaque of achievement. The information is later used for annual awards of most funded album by genre.
